What is Pinggy?

Pinggy is a digital town square for your city or town - a simple, text-based social app that helps you connect with people nearby through short, ephemeral posts called Pings.

Every Ping is public, limited to 160 characters, and automatically disappears after 7 days. No filters, no follower counts, no endless algorithms - just real conversations happening in real places.

Why we need it

Most social apps today are designed for global reach, influencer culture, and attention metrics. Pinggy takes the opposite approach - it's about local connection, not viral content.

We believe your city or town is full of stories, thoughts, and conversations worth sharing - from quick observations to community updates or everyday moments from people you cross paths with. Pinggy makes those conversations visible, spontaneous, and authentically local.

No tracking, no pressure, no noise - just people being people.

How it works

  1. Sign in with Google - simple and secure, with no extra passwords.
  2. Post a Ping - share what's on your mind in 160 characters or less.
  3. See your city's feed - view all Pings from your city or town in chronological order.
  4. Connect and reply - use mentions and hashtags to join the conversation.
  5. Everything fades - Pings disappear after 7 days, keeping the feed fresh and relevant.

If you don't enable location access, Pinggy uses your IP address to approximate your city. We never track or store your location history.

Our philosophy

Local matters. The best conversations start close to home.

Ephemeral keeps it real. When everything fades, people speak freely.

Privacy builds trust. We don't need to know everything about you to connect you with others.

Pinggy isn't about followers or fame - it's about belonging. It's your city's digital town square. Come say hi.
